History Center (Diboll)
The History Center collects, preserves and freely makes available the History of
the Greater East Texas region with a focus on the Diboll area and the forestry industry
to those who want to experience it. The History Center holdings include manuscripts,
business and local government records, maps, newspapers, oral histories and boasts
a collection of over 200,000 images. The site is complete with a train and
nice seating areas around the grounds. Diboll was once home of the Temple-Inland
Corporation and the History Center was created and is maintained by the T.L.L Temple
Foundation. The Temple-Inland home office was moved from Diboll Texas to Austin
Texas after being located in Diboll for over a hundred years. Forestry is a major part of East Texas and this is one way to experience the rich history of this region.
