The Ellen Trout Zoo is located in Lufkin Texas and is open every day of the year from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. From giraffes to panthers to hippos in the ""hippoquarium"", you will see a great example of the biodiversity of the world. Leisurely stroll along the paths that are embraced by lush vegetation that shades you as you meander around corner after corner seeing creatures in habitats that rival the finest zoos. Keep an eye out for free roaming wildlife (don't worry, they won't bite). The kids will delight in riding the train that runs around the park, over the bridge that spans the Ellen Trout Lake and through the pine trees on the other side. There are many places to have a picnic or just sit down and relax in the shade while viewing some of the most amazing creatures on Earth. Don't forget your fishing poles! The zoo grounds contain a small lake that you are allowed to fish from.
